What is a backup strategy?

Backup strategy

A backup strategy is a plan and method for making copies of important data and storing them securely so that you can restore them in the event of loss, damage or a cyberattack. The goal is to ensure business continuity, even if something goes wrong with your systems.

An effective backup strategy goes beyond simply making copies. It involves decisions about frequency, location (local, external or in the cloud), encryption and recovery procedures. The 3-2-1 principle is also often used: three copies of your data, on two different media, one of which is at an external location.

Een back-upstrategie is een plan en methode om kopieën van belangrijke gegevens te maken en veilig op te slaan zodat je deze kunt herstellen bij verlies, schade of een cyberaanval.
