What is Zero Trust Security?

Zero Trust Security

Zero Trust Security is a cybersecurity model based on the principle of “trust no one, verify everything.” Instead of automatically trusting users or devices within the network, Zero Trust continuously checks the identity and rights of every access attempt.

This means that even internal users or devices are not automatically granted access to systems or data. Authentication, authorization, and encryption are applied at every step. Important components include multi-factor authentication (MFA), micro-segmentation, least privilege access, and continuous monitoring.

Zero Trust is crucial at a time when cyber threats are becoming increasingly sophisticated and traditional network perimeters no longer offer sufficient protection. It reduces the risk of data breaches and makes it more difficult for attackers to move laterally through a network.

Zero Trust Security is een cybersecuritymodel dat uitgaat van het principe “vertrouw niemand, verifieer alles”.
